A side-by-side editorial comparison of Double and Navidrome — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
Double's AI assistant reaches past QuickBooks into Xero.
Double is an accounting-practice platform built around QuickBooks Online, with the Ask Double assistant at its centre. The October 15 release puts Ask Double on Xero clients in a read-only beta and adds Consolidations, a beta for multi-entity QBO clients with account mapping and elimination rules. It follows Connectors opening to any MCP server and invoices gaining tax, terms and custom fields.
Navidrome patches five vulnerabilities and gets Jellyfin clients working end to end.
Navidrome's only tracked release, v0.64.1, fixes five reported vulnerabilities: unthrottled Subsonic logins, SSRF and local file reads through M3U artwork, player takeover between users, and library filters skipped on three endpoints. It also makes the Manet and JellyBox Jellyfin clients sync and sign in correctly, adds Quick Connect sign-in and LAN discovery, and lets smart playlists reference other playlists.

It follows Connectors opening to any MCP server and invoices gaining tax, terms and custom fields.
Two tracks run in parallel: fuller QBO bookkeeping coverage, now including multi-entity consolidation, and an AI layer that reaches across a firm's tools. Xero support arriving through Ask Double first, read-only, shows the assistant is the wedge for expanding beyond the QBO ledger.
Expect Ask Double on Xero to gain write actions after the read-only beta, and Consolidations to stay a Scale-tier feature. Whether Xero gets the full close workflow is not shown in the entries.

Navidrome is broadening beyond its Subsonic API roots by impersonating a Jellyfin server well enough for real Jellyfin apps to work against it. The security release shows multi-user and multi-library deployments are getting tighter permission checks as that surface grows.
Expect more Jellyfin client validation and compatibility fixes. With only one entry tracked, the larger roadmap isn't visible.
