GitHub's Copilot push shifts to admin plumbing: billing, account controls and agent access.
A side-by-side editorial comparison of Double and Easy!Appointments — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
Double fills out QBO invoicing as Free Scale Week converts to trials.
Double is an accounting-practice platform built around QuickBooks Online, with the Ask Double assistant at its centre. The latest release ends Free Scale Week, adds QBO custom fields to invoices, and lets Ask Double split and copy PDFs into per-transaction documents, alongside a long list of fixes. It follows Connectors opening to all users, including any MCP server.
Easy!Appointments makes CalDAV sync failures explain themselves.
Easy!Appointments ships slowly through alpha and beta pre-releases. The 1.6.0 cycle added Jitsi meeting links for appointments booked on the public page, a meeting-link field, and a dedicated Google Calendar integration section. The 1.6.1 pre-releases tighten input validation and make CalDAV sync usable on local networks, with failures explained on the calendar page.

It follows Connectors opening to all users, including any MCP server.
Two tracks run in parallel: fuller QBO bookkeeping coverage, with invoices now carrying tax, terms, discounts and custom fields, and an AI layer that reaches across a firm's tools. Live task counts updating when 'the Double MCP, or an agent' acts show Double expecting external agents to work inside it, not just Ask Double.
Expect more of the agent-facing surface, with the Double MCP and agent-created tasks gaining explicit features. Scale-tier features such as the revenue-share allocations and bank imports will keep being used as upgrade bait after the free week.

The scheduler is building out integrations (Google Calendar, CalDAV, Jitsi) and then hardening them so self-hosters can diagnose problems without reading logs. Cadence is slow, with months between pre-releases, and the 1.6.0 notes are repeated across three cuts.
A 1.6.1 stable release with the CalDAV and validation work is the likely next step; the entries don't show new integrations queued behind it.
