What is Canix?

Canix is shipping label and compliance depth while dark mode waits on a browser extension.

Canix, a seed-to-sale platform for cannabis operators, spent this window on labeling and data plumbing: label fields expanded to carry brand, ingredients, strain dominance, notes, and the top five cannabinoids auto-ranked from lab results, with barcodes and QR codes now available for Lot ID, tag number, and item SKU. The label editor itself gained font and color pickers, field locking, duplication, and absolute pixel sizing. New POST endpoints cover NCI creation and purchase order line items, and an AI uploader for historical sales orders is in beta. Dark mode was answered by pointing users at a third-party Chrome extension until a real implementation ships.

What is Hotplate?

Hotplate spent 2026 paying off a portal rewrite; it is finally shipping the backlog again.

Hotplate replaced its seller portal in March 2026, then spent the following weeks reversing what the rewrite broke, including an 80-plus fix batch and an extension of the old portal's shutdown date. Since May the cadence has changed shape: payment links, self-serve gift cards, an iOS app, review replies, and now a rebuild of the drops flow itself. Nearly every note credits a beta group or a Canny vote, so the ordering is visibly demand-driven.

C
Canix
E-COMM
5.0

Canix is shipping label and compliance depth while dark mode waits on a browser extension.

◆ Current state

◆ Where it's heading

The work concentrates where cannabis compliance actually bites — labels that must carry state-mandated fields and scannable identifiers traceable back to lab results. Auto-ranking cannabinoids from lab data rather than making an operator type them is the pattern: pull regulated values from the system of record instead of trusting manual entry. The API and AI-upload work extends the same instinct to getting data in.

◆ Prediction

Expect the label system to keep absorbing state-specific requirements and the AI uploader to move from an assisted beta to self-service. Dark mode is acknowledged as coming, though the entries give no date.

5.0

Hotplate spent 2026 paying off a portal rewrite; it is finally shipping the backlog again.

◆ Current state

Hotplate replaced its seller portal in March 2026, then spent the following weeks reversing what the rewrite broke, including an 80-plus fix batch and an extension of the old portal's shutdown date. Since May the cadence has changed shape: payment links, self-serve gift cards, an iOS app, review replies, and now a rebuild of the drops flow itself. Nearly every note credits a beta group or a Canny vote, so the ordering is visibly demand-driven.

◆ Where it's heading

The releases keep widening what a chef can transact on Hotplate rather than deepening any single feature. Payment links pulled custom and one-off orders back from Venmo and direct messages; gift cards added store credit and fundraisers; review replies moved storefront reputation in-house. The July drops refresh is the first release in months to turn back to the core primitive, adding live pickup-window editing, per-item original-versus-modified inventory, and a streamlined Schedule tab.

◆ Prediction

The drops refresh introduces Schedule and Stats surfaces without filling them out, so the next releases most likely build on those. Nothing in these entries indicates what comes after that.
