OpenHands' latest releases are security rebuilds of its Agent Canvas
A side-by-side editorial comparison of BeyondWords and Docling — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
BeyondWords opens its whole account surface to AI assistants via MCP
BeyondWords turns publisher text into narrated audio. After an MCP server in August opened account and content management to AI assistants, October brought Eleven v4 into the product for faster, more realistic instant voice cloning, so each author can have their own voice. The rest of the feed is customer stories and marketing guides.
Docling now swaps broken PDF text layers for OCR and limits what hostile files can consume
Docling keeps releasing every few days, and late October brought three kinds of change. Quality: broken PDF text layers are replaced with OCR, RapidOCR detects page orientation, and a heading style signal runs without generating parsed pages. Reach: mixed-format ZIP inputs and transformers and MLX presets for the ASR pipelines. Safety: 2.142.1 limits decompressed archive members and decoded image pixels, bounds several parsers, and requires trusted input for Tectonic TikZ rendering.

Everything before this shipped in service of the publisher's own funnel: convert anonymous readers to registered, registered to subscribed, and keep them listening longer. The MCP release changes who the operator is rather than what the product does — configuration and content work that previously required the dashboard can now be driven from an assistant. BeyondWords is positioning itself as infrastructure an agent can operate, not just software a publisher logs into.
Expect more publisher case studies and voice-model updates; the feed shows no follow-up to the MCP server yet.

As the format list has filled out, the work has turned to what happens when input is bad or malicious. The 2.142.1 hardening set reads like a response to treating documents as untrusted input, and it sits beside bounds on untrusted model output. Speech is also becoming a real pipeline, with presets, offline operation and hallucination controls. VLM mappers such as Chandra and Nemotron keep getting format-level fixes, which suggests those backends are in routine use.
Expect more decode and parser limits, since the hardening touched many backends at once, and ASR presets to keep widening. The weekly-or-faster minor cadence shows no sign of slowing.
