The RC train's shape reinforces it: six candidates fired in one day on CI and docs, then one heavy candidate carrying the features, then a fix-only close. That is release engineering hardened around a major, not a routine point release.

With Agents and Actors now GA rather than cherry-picks, the next branch should build out what they enable — device-conditioned policies or agent-brokered credentials — while 2026.8.x settles into backport patches.

Feature work is Postman-parity catch-up (collection-level scripts, OpenAPI 3.1 export, API doc versioning) rather than anything that redefines the client. Meanwhile the reliability debt is visible in public: three consecutive releases carried an incident banner.

Expect the next releases to keep hardening self-hosted and Desktop paths and to restore the deferred Cloud Desktop track, with continued Postman-parity feature fills rather than a new capability class.
