Ably promotes LiveObjects to stable, positioning real-time state sync as AI agent infrastructure
Ably has shipped LiveObjects to GA across Java and Cocoa platforms, completing a coordinated push that graduated experimental state-sync infrastructure into a production-ready capability. LiveObjects provides path-based distributed state with resilient subscriptions — pitched explicitly at AI agent coordination, live configuration, and multi-player experiences. In parallel, the AI Transport SDK added Temporal workflow support for durable agent patterns, and reliability work across .NET and JS SDKs tightened reconnection behavior from 120 seconds to 25 seconds and added WebSocket fallback for proxy-blocked networks.
A virtualization manager coasting on backports, with releases years apart
oVirt Engine's release feed is sparse and slowing: 4.5.5 in late 2023, 4.5.6 and a pair of 4.5.3.x backports in early 2024, then nothing until 4.5.7 in December 2025. Almost every entry is a list of targeted fixes and backports rather than features — OVF import edge cases, template handling, NVRAM save/restore logic, CA generation as a non-root user, Keycloak group handling. One CVE, CVE-2024-0822, appears in 4.5.6 and its 4.5.3 backport.

Ably is converging on a two-layer platform: real-time pub/sub (the core business) and LiveObjects (distributed mutable state). Both are now being marketed as AI agent infrastructure, and the moves are coordinated — the Temporal plugin in the AI Transport SDK and the LiveObjects GA on multiple platforms are the same strategic bet that AI agents need durable real-time state coordination. Terraform provider maturity rounds out an infra-as-code story for teams running Ably at scale. The JS LiveObjects stable release is likely the next platform milestone.
A JavaScript LiveObjects stable release is the obvious next step given Java and Cocoa are already GA. The Temporal plugin pattern in the AI Transport SDK suggests additional agent framework integrations (LangGraph, CrewAI, or similar) are being evaluated, since the durable agent market is consolidating around framework-native patterns rather than DIY lifecycle management.

This reads as a mature platform in maintenance rather than one being developed. The parallel 4.5.3.x stream exists purely to carry fixes back to deployments that cannot move, and the two-year gap between 4.5.6 and 4.5.7 says more about the project's momentum than any individual change does. Nothing in these entries points toward new capability.
The entries do not support a confident call on where this goes next; the only observable pattern is long gaps punctuated by accumulated fix rollups, so another such rollup is the most that can be inferred.
