Teable's chat-first workspace led a week of agent surfaces for notes, files and grids.
The week in collaboration
The workspace is turning into a conversation. Teable shipped an experimental chat-first workspace where a conversation, not a grid, is the starting point, and an official MCP server that Claude Code, Codex and Cursor reach through OAuth. SiYuan added pinned agent sessions and Twake Drive an optional AI writing assistant. The grid, the note and the file browser are each gaining an agent beside them.
Self-hosted tools, meanwhile, spent the week on security and stability. FreshRSS shipped its second security point release in six weeks, Syncthing iterated release candidates, and Elgg issued paired patches on two branches.
Leaders
Teable shipped two sparks in six days. The October 21 release adds the chat-first workspace with a persistent conversation dock, AI references bound to their original records, app-local named queries with a query debugger, separate Stripe test and live accounts and admin-set retention for audit logs and record history. The October 16 MCP server came first. A scraping catalog with credit caps and removal of direct Postgres access landed on October 13.
FreshRSS 1.30.0 deliberately broke backward compatibility to close an SSRF attack surface by blocking local-network fetches by default. 1.30.2 blocks data: URIs in the sanitizer, stops logging Fever API keys on failed logins and fixes a local DNS leak when feeds are fetched through a proxy.
Hive added an External Review Portal where clients and vendors see every pending proof from every Hive company they work with, plus a Map widget for project and action locations and personal reminders in a unified Dates field.
GitHub shipped a package firewall in public preview and ten improvements across Dependabot, secret scanning and branch-protection rulesets.
Wildcards
Wiki.js 3.0 beta.685 adds live notes: a personal notes space with custom keys and permissions that can be published straight to a page. The 3.0 line is still labeled not for production, and 2.x receives only security patches.
SiYuan ran 3.8.8 through six alphas and four betas in about four days. The 3.8.9 alphas added pinned agent sessions, TIFF previews, sync checkout progress and a subdocument-depth limit for database automation scopes.
Twake Drive 1.108.0 beta.1 was its largest in months, adding nested sharing, in-app invitations, a rebuilt move dialog and OnlyOffice PDF opening; beta.2 made OnlyOffice PDF editing opt-in.
Themes that compounded
- Agent surfaces landed in Teable, SiYuan and Twake Drive.
- Defaults tightened in FreshRSS and GitHub, both closing install-time and network-side attack paths.
- Draft-then-publish flows appeared in Wiki.js with live notes and in Teable with named queries.
- Maintenance-only releases continued at Syncthing and Elgg.
Watch this week
Teable ships near-daily, so the chat-first workspace should draw follow-up changes. Syncthing 2.1.7 is on its fourth release candidate, which points to a final tag. FreshRSS has cut three 1.30 releases in six weeks. Watch whether SiYuan settles 3.8.9 with a beta after two alphas in a day.
