◆Current state
NotePlan is a mature Markdown notes-calendar-tasks app for the Apple ecosystem, now pushing on two fronts at once. It has built a real plugin platform — community plugins, an iOS installer, HTML plugins, CommandBar forms — and wired in an MCP server so AI agents can read and edit notes directly. Alongside the core app it launched Memo AI, a voice-capture product that turns speech into structured notes and has already spread to Watch and CarPlay.
◆Where it's heading
The direction is agent-native and extensible: NotePlan wants to be both a surface AI tools can operate on (MCP, Claude permissions) and a platform others build on (community plugins). Memo AI is treated as a first-class second product with its own version line and platform expansions, not a bolt-on feature. Core releases have settled into a steady monthly cadence of refinements — tables, wiki links, share extension — layered on top of that plugin and AI groundwork.
◆Prediction
Expect the next moves to deepen the agent story — richer MCP capabilities and tighter Claude integration — while Memo AI keeps expanding surfaces and Shortcuts automation. A community-plugin marketplace or discovery layer is the likely follow-through on the platform opening.
