◆Current state
Formbricks is in pre-release stabilization for 5.4, with a dense stream of release candidates concentrated on SSO authentication hardening and Redis connection reliability. The 5.4.0 baseline introduced substantive capabilities — MCP OAuth tooling, dashboard-level date filters, scalable background embedding pools, PostHog AI observability — but the last week of rc iterations has been operational rather than functional.
◆Where it's heading
Two parallel arcs define Formbricks' direction: structural enterprise-readiness (SSO hardening across multiple identity providers, self-hosting observability, MCP integration) and expansion of the feedback data layer (Hub aggregation, embedding pools, feedback record filters). Whether the MCP tooling develops into a first-class product surface or stays as a developer integration path will define whether Formbricks grows meaningfully beyond survey-tool positioning.
◆Prediction
The 5.4 stable release is close. The next cycle will likely surface the MCP tooling as a highlighted capability or push further on Hub feedback aggregation — the infrastructure for both is in place.

    Three Redis reliability fixes backported to the 5.4 release branch: keepalive connections, session fallback to the database on Redis errors, and Redis 6 verification token consumption. All infrastructure-layer fixes with no user-visible behavior change under normal operation.

    5.4.1 pre-release: SSO hardening for Microsoft and OIDC

    The rc.4 iteration of 5.4.1 completes the SSO hardening pass: Microsoft multi-tenant OIDC, generic OIDC on Microsoft authority, OAuth state rejection handling, and MCP OAuth resource seeding are all covered. This is a meaningful set of fixes for enterprise self-hosters running Microsoft identity infrastructure — failures here were blocking login flows entirely. The addition of observability logging for SSO callback outcomes also gives operators a diagnostic tool that was previously absent.

    Two bug fixes backported to the 5.4.0 branch: the Google sign-in loop caused by a missing Account.issuer write, and a switch from Alpine to a multi-arch Valkey image. Infrastructure-level fixes with no new user-facing capability.
