Customer.io threads an AI agent through messaging, integrations, and setup.

ai-agentintegrationsin-app-messaginganonymous-visitorsdesign-tooling
Current state
Customer.io is layering AI-agent capabilities and lower-friction integration setup onto its messaging core. Recent releases mix design tooling (brand variants in Design Studio), broader anonymous-visitor messaging (snippets, feedback forms), and agent-assisted CRM syncs for Salesforce and HubSpot.
Where it's heading
The product is moving toward an agent-operated workspace: custom agent skills, agent field suggestions during integration setup, and scoped MCP connections all point the same direction. In parallel it keeps expanding what teams can do with unidentified visitors rather than only known profiles.
Prediction
Expect more agent-driven configuration surfaces and continued investment in anonymous-visitor capture and messaging.

Add brand variants to Design Studio

Design Studio now stores multiple branded variants of a global component and lets you switch between them while building, plus default styling for images and sections. A real step in the multi-brand design tooling that supports Customer.io's messaging-composition arc.

Use snippets in anonymous in-app messages

Snippets can now be referenced in anonymous in-app messages, so shared content like a logo or URL is reusable for unidentified visitors. Incremental, but it extends the anonymous-messaging surface the product has been steadily widening.

    Customize your sidebar navigation

A sidebar customization toggle lets users show or hide navigation items to reduce clutter. A small UX nicety with no change to the product's capability surface.

Set up Salesforce faster with sync templates and Agent field suggestions

Salesforce setup gains prebuilt sync templates for contacts, leads, and accounts, with the agent suggesting fields from a stated goal and a preview before enabling. Fits the arc of pushing the AI agent into integration configuration, though framed here as a setup-friction improvement.

Debug web in-app messages with the in-app SDK debugger

A new in-app SDK debugger surfaces live state — workspace, identified person, route, and active or queued messages — on your own site via a query parameter. Useful developer tooling that lowers the cost of shipping web in-app messages.

Collect plain text feedback in anonymous messages

Anonymous messages can now collect plain-text feedback from unidentified visitors, with submissions browsable and exportable to CSV. Another increment in the anonymous-visitor capture push that runs through this release window.
