Code.org's Adaptive pathway now stops to show students its plan before it builds anything.

◆Current state
Code.org ships several builds a day, and the visible work stays in Adaptive, quizzes and its creative labs. Adaptive added a review step that shows the plan and asks before building, plan templates on checkpoints, typed answers on multiple choice and zoom on the skill map. The quiz builder got a restyle with time and attempt limits in its header, and Sprite Lab 2 gained an Ask AI block.
◆Where it's heading
Adaptive is turning into a guided plan-review-build loop: the student plans, the system checks the plan, then it generates a starting point. Quizzes are moving from student-facing views into a full authoring tool for teachers. AI keeps arriving as blocks and panels inside existing labs rather than as a separate product.
◆Prediction
Expect Adaptive's new ai-makerspace-2026 pathway stub to fill in with content, and more quiz builder controls before quizzes reach classrooms widely.

    Adaptive plan templates and map zoom; quiz builder shows limits

    Adaptive checkpoints can carry a plan template filled by their questions, multiple choice accepts typed answers, and the skill map gets zoom. The quiz builder now shows time and attempt limits, and admin accounts must sign in again daily.

    Adaptive steps can branch on a student's earlier answer

    Adaptive lessons can now branch on an answer the student gave earlier and include formatted Markdown steps. It moves Adaptive further from a fixed path toward lessons that react to each student. Sprite Lab 2 also gets a prompt block with choices.

    Skill-map tour for Adaptive; quiz match answer view

    Students get an intro tour of the Adaptive skill map, and match questions gain an answer view that shows correctness without giving answers away. Both fill in surfaces the past two weeks of builds put in place.

    Database writes move to the RDS Proxy writer endpoint

    An infrastructure build that points database writes at the RDS Proxy writer endpoint and fixes unit tests on the managed test server. It extends last week's read-replica move to RDS Proxy; classrooms won't see a change.
