Builder.io

DEVOPS
Velocity5.0

Visual headless CMS and AI-powered design-to-code platform

Builder.io is rebuilding around the agent: MCP, design-system indexing, and credits to match.

Current state
Builder.io has spent 2026 converting a visual editor into an agent workspace. The design system is indexed once and shared across the agent, design mode, and the insert menu; Figma frames import in bulk; a Builder MCP server puts prototypes into the repo and pushes branches back. Recent releases are less about new canvas features than about what the agent knows and what it costs to run.
Where it's heading
Two lines run in parallel. One is reach: MCP, the Claude design handoff, and multi-frame Figma imports all widen what can flow into Builder from outside. The other is commercial: Agent Credits are now a unit customers top up independently of their plan, which is what a company does when agent consumption rather than seats is becoming the thing being sold. Collaboration features - element-level comments, Peer Review - are being fitted around that agent loop rather than competing with it.
Prediction
Expect the credit meter to become more prominent as usage-based agent pricing, and inbound integrations to keep arriving faster than editor features.

Comment on specific elements in Fusion

Element-level comments carry a screenshot and drop reviewers on the referenced layer. This is the review loop catching up to the generation loop - useful for teams shipping agent-generated work, but it sits beside the agent arc rather than advancing it. Team and Enterprise only.

    One-time Agent Credit top-ups

Pro and Team plans can buy Agent Credits without changing subscription tier. The meter is not new; what changes is that hitting the ceiling no longer forces an upgrade decision, which is how a vendor behaves when it wants consumption to grow faster than plan changes.

A better AI experience in Publish

Ask AI inside Publish gains page generation, brand-voice refinement, SEO and readability checks, and cross-linking. Framed as faster and more reliable rather than new, it extends the existing agent surface into the headless CMS half of the product.

    Builder MCP

    ⚡ SPARK

The point where Builder stops being only a destination and becomes a tool other agents call. Prototypes move into the repo, local branches push back for visual collaboration, and generated code is grounded in the design-system index shipped in February.

    Claude design handoff

A handoff snippet from Claude design pastes straight into Builder as a starting point. Narrow in mechanics - one paste path - but it is the first of the inbound integrations that the MCP server generalised two weeks later.

    Multi-frame Figma imports

Multiple Figma frames import together with no size limits, carrying multi-screen flows, breakpoints, and shared components. A real lift to the import ceiling, and it makes the design-system indexing shipped the day before more useful.
