◆Current state
Breakdance is iterating on its 2.x line: 2.8 delivered a feature batch in May, now being stabilized through RC and 2.8.1 patches. The window also includes two security updates (2.7.2 stored XSS, 2.6.2 access-control), showing active vulnerability response.
◆Where it's heading
Breakdance is the engine that also powers Oxygen 6, and its 2.8 feature set — multi-element selection, variable fonts, PHP 8.4, faster previews — mirrors Oxygen 6.1 exactly, confirming a shared release train across the two products. The cadence pairs periodic feature versions with prompt security patching.
◆Prediction
Expect 2.8.x maintenance to continue and the next feature version to again land in lockstep with Oxygen's equivalent release.
