◆Current state
Boords is an AI storyboarding tool that has spent 2026 extending in both directions from the frame. Upstream it now holds the script itself, with review links, line-anchored client comments and a recorded approval; downstream it handles reframing, aspect-ratio changes and revision history on generated images. Around that core it has built the workspace furniture a team needs to actually run on it: presence avatars, an activity log, project multi-select, archive cleanup and Slack notifications. The August release is the clearest statement of the direction so far.
◆Where it's heading
The product is turning from an editor into a pre-production pipeline, and the ordering of releases shows it: capabilities land first, then the collaboration surface around them, then the free-tier reach. Scripts arriving on every plan and the Activity Log opening to free teams both point at adoption breadth rather than upsell. The remaining seam is between the approved script and the generated frames, where Boords currently reads the script once to build a storyboard rather than keeping the two in sync.
◆Prediction
Expect the script-to-storyboard link to become a living one — re-syncing frames when the script changes after the first generation — since the entries already treat approval status and revisions as tracked state rather than one-time events.

What is genuinely new here is smaller but on-arc: the Activity Log opens to free teams, extending the same audit trail that records script approvals, and audio and animatics now run to 13 minutes with clearer processing errors.

    This is the release the rest of the year was building toward: Boords stops starting at the frame and takes the step before it. The review link, line-anchored comments and recorded approval reuse the collaboration surface built out since May, and the one-click conversion makes the script the object the storyboard derives from.

    Change Aspect Ratio

    Frame size becomes editable after creation, with an explicit pad-or-crop choice for boards that already hold images. It fits the revision-oriented view of a frame the product has been building since Camera Reframe: the board is a working document, not an output committed at setup time.

    July's digest is workspace hygiene rather than capability: presence avatars, permanent archive deletion, full-resolution saved images, refunds for failed generations and an admin switch over AI image generation. The admin toggle is the notable one, since it is the first sign of team-level control over the generation features rather than per-user access.

    Real-Time Team Activity

    Presence lands in the storyboard header: colour-coded avatars for who is online, a green dot for who has this board open, collapsing to a counter past five people and respecting project access. It is the multiplayer groundwork that the script review flow later depends on.

    Multi-Select Projects

    Projects can be selected in bulk from the sidebar to move or archive in one action. Minor on its own, it belongs to the same run of workspace-management work as archive deletion and the activity log, aimed at teams whose Boords account has accumulated a back catalogue.
