New generators arrive regularly through community contribution, three in 7.15, three in 7.16, two in 7.20, which makes added targets routine rather than notable here.

Zellij is expanding where a terminal session can be reached from rather than what a session can do. The web client detached sessions from the local terminal, Windows support detached them from Unix, and the recent patch stream is the compatibility tax on both. A second, quieter thread is terminal protocol conformance: OSC52 advertisement in DA1, CSI 2031 theme switching, and an accepted mitigation for scrollback behavior expected by the Codex CLI.
The last three releases are all protocol and compatibility fixes rather than features, and the Codex mitigation shows client applications driving that work; expect the next releases to keep absorbing terminal protocol edge cases from the tools users run inside Zellij.

Two patterns hold across the window. Breaking changes ship with fallbacks and an option to restore prior behavior, so upgrades stay tractable for teams generating against pinned specs. And the normalizer is becoming the project's answer to imperfect real-world specs, absorbing rule after rule instead of pushing correctness back onto spec authors. The per-language sections are maintenance: race conditions, serialization, and null handling in individual generators.
Normalizer rules have been added in nearly every release and one of them was flipped on by default in 7.17; expect more of the current opt-in rules to become defaults, each behind the same fallback flag the project uses for breaking changes.
