Dashy shipped ten releases in five days; one fixes how auth headers trust origins
A side-by-side editorial comparison of Traefik and Uptrends — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
Traefik v3.8 rc.1 is a Gateway API release; v2.11 keeps getting security patches.
Traefik runs two lines. v3.8.0-rc.1 (2026-10-30) is mostly Kubernetes Gateway API work: ListenerSet support, client certificate validation, backend TLS policy for gRPC and TLSRoute, and TCPRoute consumed through its v1 version with Gateway API v1.5.x support dropped. It also adds per-router responding timeouts and an ACME option to reuse private keys. The v2.11 line keeps weekly-to-biweekly patches: 2.11.61 adds an entry-point limit on request header values and fixes a backend connection leak for NTLM and Kerberos.
Uptrends spent October on account plumbing: vault credentials, bulk edits and a free trial path.
Uptrends is a synthetic and API monitoring service. October releases were mostly account and workflow items: credentials for authenticated monitors can now live in a shared vault instead of plain text, monitors can be bulk-edited with a preview of the credit impact, HTTPS and multi-step API monitors support the HTTP QUERY method, and free accounts can start a 30-day Enterprise trial. SCIM provisioning for Enterprise accounts arrived in late September, and e-invoices joined PDF billing.

Feature work sits entirely on v3, and Gateway API is its center: the release tracks upstream versions and drops older ones, so Traefik is betting on Gateway API as its main Kubernetes interface. v2.11 is a security branch; five advisories in 2.11.58 and a CVE in 2.11.60 show it still gets real fixes.
Further 3.8 release candidates and then a final 3.8.0 are the likely next steps, with v2.11 patches continuing in parallel.

Two threads continue. Monitors are being made to behave like real API clients: after bearer tokens and JWT functions, HTTP QUERY lets a monitor send long search bodies without URL limits. The account side is being prepared for larger and more regulated customers: SCIM, vault-stored credentials and e-invoicing all serve procurement and IT rather than the person writing checks. The Enterprise trial for free accounts is the first entry here aimed at converting small users upward.
Existing monitors keep plain-text credentials until edited, so expect a migration prompt or bulk action to move them into the vault. Enterprise remains the tier that receives new capabilities first, as SCIM did.
