What is Teable?

Shipping several builds a day, with admin comms and recycle-bin snapshots the current focus

Teable releases multiple builds per day, each tagged with a timestamp rather than a version. The 5 August builds all carry the same feature set - targeted in-app announcements that admins can schedule, localize, target by audience, withdraw, and render as banners, toasts, modals or sidebar cards, plus read-only record snapshots in the recycle bin. Late July builds covered mobile controls on shared pages, expanded audit logs with record IDs and API endpoints, and organization-wide department keyword search.

What is Komga?

A mature media server whose releases are format edge cases and Kobo plumbing.

Komga moves between minor releases slowly — 1.24.0 in January, 1.25.0 in late June — with patch releases in between that are almost entirely EPUB parsing fixes. The two features worth naming are solid RAR4 archive support in 1.25.0 and an SSE heartbeat event in 1.24.0. The rest is fixes to EPUB table-of-contents handling, fixed-layout detection, and the Kobo and OPDS2 integration surfaces.

◆ Current state

Teable releases multiple builds per day, each tagged with a timestamp rather than a version. The 5 August builds all carry the same feature set - targeted in-app announcements that admins can schedule, localize, target by audience, withdraw, and render as banners, toasts, modals or sidebar cards, plus read-only record snapshots in the recycle bin. Late July builds covered mobile controls on shared pages, expanded audit logs with record IDs and API endpoints, and organization-wide department keyword search.

◆ Where it's heading

The recent work is aimed at administrators of larger deployments rather than at the base table-building experience. Announcements give admins an in-product channel to their own users, audit logs gained the detail an auditor would ask for, and department search assumes an org chart big enough to need it. Read-only snapshots in the recycle bin address the recovery path - being able to look at what was deleted before deciding whether to restore it. Together these are the features a self-hosted database platform adds when its buyers become IT departments.

◆ Prediction

Expect continued administrative and governance surface - more granular permissions or retention controls would follow naturally from the audit log and snapshot work. The three near-identical 5 August builds suggest a release process that re-cuts the same changeset, so build count is a poor proxy for shipping volume here.

◆ Current state

Komga moves between minor releases slowly — 1.24.0 in January, 1.25.0 in late June — with patch releases in between that are almost entirely EPUB parsing fixes. The two features worth naming are solid RAR4 archive support in 1.25.0 and an SSE heartbeat event in 1.24.0. The rest is fixes to EPUB table-of-contents handling, fixed-layout detection, and the Kobo and OPDS2 integration surfaces.

◆ Where it's heading

The work concentrates where a self-hosted library server actually breaks: malformed EPUBs, archive formats readers assume will just open, and the sync protocols third-party devices speak. Kobo integration keeps taking attention — content restriction enforcement, proxying raw request bodies to the Kobo store — which suggests e-reader compatibility is where the user pressure sits. Translation batches from Weblate appear in most releases.

◆ Prediction

Expect more format-tolerance work on EPUB and archive handling, with the Kobo and KOReader integrations continuing to absorb the fixes that a mature library server accumulates.
