What is Snyk?

Snyk tightens scan precision and adds the regulatory + SCM hooks enterprises ask for first.

Snyk's recent shipping splits into three threads: Snyk Code precision tuning (Path Traversal severity tiering, Apache Camel framework taint coverage, .gitignore-style exclude semantics), compliance-flavored filters (a first-class CISA KEV filter for FedRAMP and EU CRA workflows), and SCM operational plumbing (Repo Content Sync in Early Access for automated project lifecycle, plus new IDE plugin and CLI builds).

What is Weaviate?

Weaviate is turning the vector database into an agent runtime with tunable search effort

The feed mixes real release notes with developer guides, and the release notes carry the weight. Recent work centers on the Query Agent rather than the storage engine: Search Mode now takes an effort tier, and query profiling exposes per-stage, per-shard timing. The 1.38 release moved the disk-based vector index and a built-in MCP server to general availability, alongside a rebuilt async replication scheduler.

Snyk tightens scan precision and adds the regulatory + SCM hooks enterprises ask for first.

◆ Current state

Snyk's recent shipping splits into three threads: Snyk Code precision tuning (Path Traversal severity tiering, Apache Camel framework taint coverage, .gitignore-style exclude semantics), compliance-flavored filters (a first-class CISA KEV filter for FedRAMP and EU CRA workflows), and SCM operational plumbing (Repo Content Sync in Early Access for automated project lifecycle, plus new IDE plugin and CLI builds).

◆ Where it's heading

The pattern is steady consolidation of the developer-security platform — fewer false positives where customers complained, fewer manual re-imports for SCM ops teams, and explicit hooks for the regulatory regimes (FedRAMP, EU CRA) that drive enterprise procurement. None of this is directionally surprising; it's the work of becoming the default control plane for 'vulnerabilities that matter to your compliance auditor.'

◆ Prediction

More framework-level taint coverage in Snyk Code is likely (Apache Camel is the template for a broader rollout). Repo Content Sync will graduate from Early Access to GA, with deletion-handling tuned based on customer feedback. EU CRA-specific reporting surfaces or attestation features are the obvious extension of the CISA KEV move.

Weaviate is turning the vector database into an agent runtime with tunable search effort

◆ Current state

The feed mixes real release notes with developer guides, and the release notes carry the weight. Recent work centers on the Query Agent rather than the storage engine: Search Mode now takes an effort tier, and query profiling exposes per-stage, per-shard timing. The 1.38 release moved the disk-based vector index and a built-in MCP server to general availability, alongside a rebuilt async replication scheduler.

◆ Where it's heading

The center of gravity has shifted from storing vectors to running retrieval as an agentic service. Engram going generally available gave agents managed memory; the MCP server gave them a standard way in; effort tiers now let callers trade latency and cost for search quality on a per-query basis. Operability is being built out in parallel — profiling and replication work are what a database needs once agents, not humans, are issuing the queries.

◆ Prediction

Expect the effort tiers to spread beyond Search Mode into the rest of the Query Agent surface, and the two 1.38 previews — the Boost API and nested object filtering — to reach general availability in a following release.
