What is Quay?

The public release feed is pure CVE backporting across two frozen branches.

Quay's tracked releases are entirely maintenance work on the 3.10 and 3.12 branches, and nothing else appears in the feed. Every entry is a list of dependency CVE fixes and Go version bumps, cherry-picked between branches by automation — the same PyJWT, urllib3, axios, shell-quote and kafka-python advisories land on both lines within days. The one piece of actual product code in this window is an SSRF fix in the proxy cache upstream registry configuration.

What is Headlamp?

Headlamp's feed is mostly chart bumps; the plugin toolchain is where the actual work shows.

Most of what reaches this feed are Helm chart releases carrying a one-line project description and no changelog, roughly one every six weeks. The one entry with substance is headlamp-plugin 0.14.0, the tooling plugin authors use: a Windows shim fix, execSync replaced with execFileSync to remove a shell-injection path, missing type declarations added for theme customisation, and a long list of dependency security fixes.

Q
Quay
INFRA · APIS
5.0

The public release feed is pure CVE backporting across two frozen branches.

◆ Current state

Quay's tracked releases are entirely maintenance work on the 3.10 and 3.12 branches, and nothing else appears in the feed. Every entry is a list of dependency CVE fixes and Go version bumps, cherry-picked between branches by automation — the same PyJWT, urllib3, axios, shell-quote and kafka-python advisories land on both lines within days. The one piece of actual product code in this window is an SSRF fix in the proxy cache upstream registry configuration.

◆ Where it's heading

This is what a supported enterprise registry looks like from the outside: two older branches on life support for customers who have not moved, with feature development happening somewhere the feed does not see. The pattern is machine-driven — cherry-pick robots, changelog bump bots, Renovate-style dependency updates — with human authorship visible mainly on the security fixes. Nothing here indicates what the current development branch is doing.

◆ Prediction

Expect the 3.10 and 3.12 branches to keep receiving paired dependency CVE backports on the same cadence until their support windows close. Any read on Quay's product direction needs a source other than this feed.

2.5

Headlamp's feed is mostly chart bumps; the plugin toolchain is where the actual work shows.

◆ Current state

Most of what reaches this feed are Helm chart releases carrying a one-line project description and no changelog, roughly one every six weeks. The one entry with substance is headlamp-plugin 0.14.0, the tooling plugin authors use: a Windows shim fix, execSync replaced with execFileSync to remove a shell-injection path, missing type declarations added for theme customisation, and a long list of dependency security fixes.

◆ Where it's heading

Headlamp's investment is visibly in the extension surface rather than the core UI — the plugin tool is where typing, linting and security posture are being tightened. The 0.14.0 scaffolding change is the notable signal: new plugins now generate an AGENTS.md and bundle example plugins so coding agents have context when working in a plugin repository. Chart releases will keep dominating the feed and telling you nothing.

◆ Prediction

Further plugin-tool releases focused on type coverage and authoring ergonomics are the likely next visible work; the chart cadence should continue unchanged.
