What is Jenkins?

Jenkins is slimming the war file and hardening deserialization while the UI rewrite grinds on.

Two tracks dominate recent Jenkins weeklies. The first is the long-running experimental 'Manage Jenkins' UI refresh — status icons, notifications, system log, nodes page, borders and dialog materials, refined a few components per release. The second is core hygiene with teeth: 2.574 stopped bundling JUnit, Mailer, Matrix Authorization Strategy, Matrix Project, and OWASP Markup Formatter, cutting more than 20 MB from jenkins.war, and 2.572 added a password-complexity extension point plus default prohibition on deserializing Object fields.
