A side-by-side editorial comparison of OpenHands and vLLM — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
OpenHands' latest releases are security rebuilds of its Agent Canvas
OpenHands ships its hosted Cloud product in small, frequent increments, and the July 1.4x run added Agent Profiles, budget dashboards and SaaS auth around Agent Canvas. The newest entries, two Agent Canvas 1.23.0 rebuilds, only swap in patched dependencies.
vLLM opens its 0.33 cycle with four release candidates in a week.
vLLM's feed shows the release candidates, not the release notes: v0.32.0rc1 to rc3 in mid-October, a v0.32.1rc0, then v0.33.0rc0 through rc3 between 26 and 31 October. The visible commit titles are fixes for ROCm GEMM limits, a Mamba2 NaN on sm90, NVFP4 decode tests on DGX Spark and pinned eval checkpoints for DeepSeek-V4.1 models.

The visible work is enterprise hardening of a multi-tenant SaaS: authentication gates, key aliases, usage controls and now dependency patching on Agent Canvas as a separately versioned component. Feature delivery has gone quiet in the feed since July.
Further Agent Canvas patch rebuilds are likely; the feed gives no signal on the next Cloud feature release.

The project ships a minor roughly every two weeks and stabilises each through several RCs, with fixes concentrated on new hardware (gfx950, DGX Spark, sm90) and quantised formats such as NVFP4. The weight-transfer HTTP protocol documented for RL trainers shows the engine also serving reinforcement-learning pipelines.
v0.33.0 final should land within days of rc3; the feed gives no feature list for it, so its scope can't be judged from these entries.
