What is OceanBase?

OceanBase's older branches now get backup and replication upgrades, not just vector-index fixes.

OceanBase Community Edition runs several branches in parallel, with 4.6.0 and its 5.0.1 continuation carrying the hybrid vector, full-text and scalar search work. 4.6.0 BP1 in late October extended the Elasticsearch-compatible hybrid search. On the 4.4.2 line, BP3 in September added secondary archive backup destinations, async PL execution in MySQL mode and disk-balancing changes, and 4.2.5 BP8 allowed backup credentials to be rotated in place.

What is Skaffold?

Skaffold 2.25 finally carries notes, and they are dependency bumps and a Go 1.27 upgrade.

Skaffold cut 2.19 through 2.25 between April and mid-September on a roughly monthly rhythm, after a short 2.18 patch series in March and April. Most entries are just install commands per platform. Version 2.25.0 on September 16 is the first in this window with a change list, and it is all maintenance: Go 1.27.1, containerd, gRPC, buildkit and go-git bumps, plus a docs announcement on the V2 and YAML reference pages.

5.0

◆ Current state

OceanBase Community Edition runs several branches in parallel, with 4.6.0 and its 5.0.1 continuation carrying the hybrid vector, full-text and scalar search work. 4.6.0 BP1 in late October extended the Elasticsearch-compatible hybrid search. On the 4.4.2 line, BP3 in September added secondary archive backup destinations, async PL execution in MySQL mode and disk-balancing changes, and 4.2.5 BP8 allowed backup credentials to be rotated in place.

◆ Where it's heading

The newest lines are where retrieval features land; the LTS bundle patches now focus on backup, disaster recovery and performance, following the RPO=0 standby sync that became supported in 4.4.2 BP2.

◆ Prediction

Expect a 5.0.x release extending the 4.6 retrieval work, and further bundle patches on 4.4.2 and 4.2.5 focused on operations.

◆ Current state

Skaffold cut 2.19 through 2.25 between April and mid-September on a roughly monthly rhythm, after a short 2.18 patch series in March and April. Most entries are just install commands per platform. ◆ Where it's heading

The monthly minors look like dependency hygiene rather than feature work, and the empty New Features and Fixes sections in 2.25 confirm it for that release. No entry has appeared since mid-September, which breaks the monthly rhythm the project held through the summer.

◆ Prediction

If cadence resumes, expect a 2.26 with another round of Go and dependency updates; the feed gives no sign of feature work.
