Kittl is taking the prompt, the model and the settings out of designing with AI.
Kittl shipped three platform-level launches in five weeks. Agentic AI removes the prompt-model-format-style decisions from creation; AI Workflows follows it with hundreds of prepared flows aimed at the trial-and-error loop that burns credits; and Apps opens a panel inside Kittl for third-party tools like Pinterest, Dropbox and Printful. Around them the weekly update posts carry editor craft — an Edit Area tool for fixing what the background remover took out, consistent characters and scenes across video frames, and a Monotype Connect integration for licensed brand fonts.
Descript is pulling generative image work inside the video editor.
Descript ships monthly release round-ups, and the August one is the densest of the year: regional image inpainting on the canvas, YouTube thumbnail generation, scheduled recording Rooms, filler-word removal in five more languages, and a model picker now spanning Claude Fable 5 as a premium tier, Claude Sonnet 5 and Gemini Omni Flash. Timeline navigation is reported 2-5x faster after a change to how media is computed on import. The May and June entries are dominated by the Customer-Obsessed Telethon, a 48-hour hackathon against top-voted Canny requests that shipped 70 tickets.

Kittl is converging on a single claim: the user brings intent, the product handles the mechanics. Agentic AI made that explicit, AI Workflows packaged it for repeat jobs, and the credit economics are named in the copy — trial and error is being sold as the thing removed, which means generation cost is a product constraint they are designing around. Apps points the other way, outward, turning Kittl from a design tool into the tab the rest of the workflow gets pulled into.
Expect the Apps panel to add more commerce and asset sources on the Printful and Dropbox pattern, and AI Workflows to absorb the video character and scene consistency work into prepared flows.

Two threads run through the year. Underlord is growing from a chat assistant into the surface where work happens — pinned project context, chat history, a doubled thinking-credit ceiling, and now image and thumbnail generation invoked from the same panel. The second thread is that Descript sources its roadmap in public: the Telethon turned an upvote board into a shipping queue, and features from it were still landing three months later. Model choice is being made a paid tier rather than a spec line.
Expect the captions refresh that gradient fills were flagged as the first piece of, and more Underlord-invoked generative actions arriving in the same round-up format.
