Apereo CAS
Apereo CAS 8.1.0 reaches a third release candidate with 8.0.0 still not final.
A side-by-side editorial comparison of Icinga and nfs-ganesha — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
Icinga 2 has now shipped security releases in July, August and October.
Icinga 2 patches security issues as simultaneous releases across its supported branches. On 28 October v2.16.6 and v2.15.7 fixed mail-flag injection in the default notification scripts plus several API issues. That follows the August pair closing a /v1/events permission bypass and a node-to-node memory exhaustion path, and the July trio covering 2.14, 2.15 and 2.16 with fixes for unauthenticated takeover and crash bugs.
NFS-Ganesha's 15.x line turns to weekly fixes, input checks and dropping 9P.
NFS-Ganesha is a userspace NFS server used with Ceph, GPFS and clustered storage. Since 15.3 in early September it has shipped 15.4 through 15.9 roughly weekly. The releases harden XDR decoding against empty handles, owners and strings, fix a session use-after-free and an integer overflow in offset checks, add gRPC QoS APIs for per-client bandwidth and IOPS, and in 15.9 remove the unmaintained 9P protocol code.

Three security rounds in four months point to a sustained audit of the API and cluster protocol, now reaching the shipped notification scripts. The 2.14 branch got the July fixes but no 2.14 release appears in the feed for August or October, which suggests its support is narrowing.
Further paired 2.16.x and 2.15.x security releases are likely while the audit continues; watch whether 2.14 gets the October fixes at all.

The fast feature run of 15.0 to 15.3 (gRPC management, dynamic config, monitoring) has given way to stabilisation: input validation, Ceph ACL and multi-client fixes, GPFS performance. gRPC continues to grow, with QoS management added in 15.5.
Expect more 15.x patch releases on the same cadence. The 9P removal shows a willingness to prune unused code, but the entries do not name other candidates.
