A side-by-side editorial comparison of HyperDX and OpenSearch Dashboards — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
HyperDX 2.43 replays sessions from OpenTelemetry browser SDKs and routes alerts by tag.
HyperDX 2.43 lists and plays session replays from OpenTelemetry browser SDKs that send session.id, showing clicks, navigations, console output and exceptions. Alert tags now reach Generic and incident.io webhook bodies, so one shared webhook can route by owning team. The all-in-one image and Compose files pin ClickHouse to 26.8.36.3 for a security fix, following 2.42's CLI dashboard authoring and PromQL tile support.
Four commits in thirteen months: this feed samples OpenSearch Dashboards, it doesn't cover it.
The feed carries release-branch commits rather than release notes, so the visible record is four entries spanning July 2025 to July 2026. The most recent is a bot cherry-pick adding the 3.8.0 release-notes file, with no notes in the body. Behind it, the 2.19 maintenance line shows Vega CVE patching and a vega-lite revert — visualization dependency churn is the only substantive thread captured here.

HyperDX is making dashboards and alerts manageable outside the UI, through the CLI, the API and MCP tools, while PromQL becomes a full citizen next to ClickHouse logs and traces. Session replay from standard OpenTelemetry SDKs extends the same openness to the browser, reducing reliance on a vendor SDK.
Expect session replay to gain more OpenTelemetry browser event types, and alert tags to reach further webhook templates.

What is visible is a project holding a long-lived 2.19 line together on security patches while the 3.x line moves ahead, but the sampling is too thin to read direction from with confidence. The one consistent signal is the Vega and vega-lite dependency, which has needed both a CVE patch and a version revert inside the window.
The entries do not support a confident prediction: at four commits in thirteen months this feed undersamples the project badly, and what 3.8.0 actually contains is not visible from here.
