Dashy's release-per-PR run keeps closing authentication gaps around header auth and OIDC
A side-by-side editorial comparison of Grype and Microcks — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
Grype keeps tightening match accuracy while making its database diff tool usable at scale
Grype's autumn releases stay on matching accuracy: AlmaLinux fix dates and Swift advisories in v0.121.0, SLES coverage and NVD SSVC data in v0.120.0, and --show-suppressed for distro-fixed matches in v0.119.0. The v0.121.1 patch fixes OpenVEX constraints for versionless purls and the lowest overlapping AlmaLinux fix, and reworks db diff to be faster, use less memory and report only real changes. Each release also carries a large dependency sweep.
Microcks 1.16 candidate adds IBM MQ mocking and moves to hardened images with faster startup
Microcks 1.16.0-rc1 is the first release candidate since June's 1.15.0-rc1. It adds AsyncAPI mocking and testing for IBM MQ, request/reply handling for Google Pub/Sub with Workload Identity auth, TLS on the HTTP endpoint and external references in the OpenAPI-to-MCP tool converter. The container images switch to Docker Hardened Images by default and replace Spring AOT with a Leyden AOT cache to cut startup time.

Accuracy work is spreading from the matcher into the tooling around the vulnerability database, with db diff now reporting fix-date, version-range and added/removed changes precisely. That suggests Anchore wants users to audit what changes between database builds, not just trust the scan result.
The next minor likely brings more distro-specific fix data and further db diff output options; the entries do not show a new matcher feature in progress.

The project keeps broadening the messaging systems it can mock, now reaching enterprise brokers like IBM MQ and Amazon MQ over TLS. In parallel it is reworking its runtime for faster cold starts and smaller attack surface, and the MCP tool converter shows it treating API specs as inputs for AI agents as well as tests.
Further 1.16 candidates are likely to fix AOT and hardened-image edge cases, since this candidate already carries several JVM crash and probe fixes tied to that switch.
