glymotif detects and counts structural motifs in glycans, over a built-in motif database or user-supplied structures, with fuzzy modification matching and alignment control. Database motifs are now requested through a db_motifs_spec object carrying their own matching parameters rather than as a name vector with loose arguments, and db_motif_info() exposes the built-in set as an inspectable tibble. A lenient mode lets lower-information glycans match more specific motifs while concrete mismatches still fail, and low-level entry points work directly on igraph objects for other package authors.

What is pedtools?

pedtools rewrote loop breaking and made a class of pedigrees analyzable for the first time.

pedtools is the foundation of the ped suite, holding the pedigree data structures every other package builds on. Version 2.11.0 revamped the loop breaking algorithm so founders can serve as loop breakers and one individual can break several loops, which makes likelihood calculations possible in pedigrees that previously could not be handled at all. Loop detection also became mandatory and faster, and the surrounding releases have steadily added query and construction helpers.

Documentation is being steered toward the cohort's newer container types, so this package is following a coordinated migration rather than setting its own course.

The new methods ship disabled by default while downstream packages catch up, which is a deliberately staged rollout rather than a flag day. Alongside that, the additive work is small, well-scoped helpers: children2(), addSibling(), isHomozygous(), trim(), nChildren().
