What is forestploter?

A forest plot package that keeps handing users control of one more graphical detail.

forestploter draws forest plots where the layout is driven by the data frame itself, so text columns and confidence intervals sit in the same grid. The theme function has become the package's centre of gravity: it now controls graphical parameters for titles, legends, axis, arrow labels, footnotes, and reference lines, with multi-column and row-order legend controls added most recently. Two releases shipped nine minutes apart in April 2026 after a two-year gap, deprecating some theme parameters, removing inter-cell gaps, and improving tick breaks.

What is Port?

Port AI graduated from answering questions about the catalog to changing it, with approval.

Port is an internal developer portal whose center of gravity has moved to Port AI. Over ten months it went from an open-beta chat assistant to an agent that plans and executes real platform changes — creating blueprints, upserting entities, triggering workflows — behind a plan the user approves first. The surrounding platform work is almost entirely extensibility: a public plugins repo, Custom Widgets, Workflows in open beta, and MCP connectors that pull external tools into the same chat.

A forest plot package that keeps handing users control of one more graphical detail.

◆ Current state

forestploter draws forest plots where the layout is driven by the data frame itself, so text columns and confidence intervals sit in the same grid.

◆ Where it's heading

The direction has been consistent for four years: whatever a user might want to restyle eventually becomes an argument. Point size stopped being transformed, cell height adjustment was removed as unwanted, legends gained size, column, and fill-order control, and vertical lines learned to extend the full plot height and to draw beneath the whiskers. The one structural move was 1.1.0, which let callers supply their own confidence-interval and summary drawing functions — turning a fixed renderer into an extensible one. Everything since has been the arguments that extensibility did not cover.

◆ Prediction

The latest release deprecates theme parameters rather than adding them, which suggests the next one consolidates the theme surface that has grown for four years rather than extending it further.

Port AI graduated from answering questions about the catalog to changing it, with approval.

◆ Current state

Port is an internal developer portal whose center of gravity has moved to Port AI. Over ten months it went from an open-beta chat assistant to an agent that plans and executes real platform changes — creating blueprints, upserting entities, triggering workflows — behind a plan the user approves first. The surrounding platform work is almost entirely extensibility: a public plugins repo, Custom Widgets, Workflows in open beta, and MCP connectors that pull external tools into the same chat.

◆ Where it's heading

The arc is assistant to gateway to executor. March made Port AI a front end for other vendors' tools via external MCP servers; June put a visual automation builder underneath it; July let the AI drive both, with Plan and Build modes and per-step traces. Each release widens what the agent may touch while keeping a human approval gate in front of it, and the extensibility work — plugins, widgets, bring-your-own LLM endpoint — exists so customers can extend the surface the agent operates on.

◆ Prediction

Expect the approval gate itself to become the product surface: policy governing which plans may execute unattended, tied to the Dynamic RBAC and permissions simulator already shipped. The step-by-step plans and per-step traces in the July release are the groundwork for granting scoped autonomy.
