ClouDNS widens its SSL catalog and adds maintenance windows to monitoring
A side-by-side editorial comparison of FireHydrant and Kata Containers — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
FireHydrant stops paging people at night for alerts that can wait until morning.
Support hours now do something during off-hours. Alerts arriving outside a team's window and at or below a new Off-hours Priority Threshold are snoozed, then re-enter the escalation policy from the top when the next window opens. Higher-priority alerts still notify immediately, and a Slack, Teams or webhook destination can report what is queued. The change is opt-in per team until January 2027, when remaining teams are moved over.
Kata Containers 4.3 fixes a guest-to-host escape and tightens annotation handling.
Kata Containers ships monthly, and 4.3.0 (October 21) carries two security fixes: a permissive annotation allowlist that could cause unintended host and guest changes (CVSS 7.9, existing installs need a config review) and out-of-bounds access in Dragonball virtio drivers that allowed guest-to-host escape (CVSS 6.4). The same release restricts containerd pod annotations, bumps the guest kernel to 6.18.52 and ships more NVIDIA GPU runtime components. 4.3.1 followed the same day with eMudhra certificate exclusion.

The year's table-stakes work for switchers is giving way to on-call quality of life. Schedule overrides made changes safe, and snoozing now reduces unnecessary pages, with visibility built in through a Snoozed filter and alert timelines. The January date makes this the default for everyone, and FireHydrant says it waited until after the holidays so the change does not land in customers' busiest weeks.
Expect guidance and prompts pushing teams to set thresholds before the January 2027 switch. API and Terraform coverage for these settings is plausible, but the entry does not mention it.

Since the Rust runtime became the default in 4.0, releases have gone to GPU packaging, kata-deploy's move to a job-based deployment mode and policy hardening in genpolicy. 4.2.0 moved the rootfs to Ubuntu 26.04 and passed QEMU block and VFIO devices by file descriptor; 4.3.0 continues with rootless VMM provisioning and guest-pulled image verification.
4.4.0 should land around November 17, given the documented target of the first Tuesday after the 15th. Expect more NVIDIA GPU packaging work, a thread in 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3.
