Bitbucket
Bitbucket is rebuilding Pipelines as a place where agents run, not just where builds run.
A side-by-side editorial comparison of Eclipse OpenJ9 and GitLab — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
OpenJ9 0.63 patches CVEs and hardens JITServer against malformed messages.
Eclipse OpenJ9, IBM's alternative JVM, released 0.63.0 on October 28 with several CVE fixes and JITServer hardening against oversized and malformed messages. The two tags before it, 0.61.0 and 0.62.0, were published with only repository hashes and no notes. Earlier 2026 releases added JDK 26 support, moved the build fully to CMake, and patched CVEs in most cycles.
GitLab is turning its platform into the context layer agents and security teams query, not just a code host.
GitLab's recent output centers on Orbit, now generally available, which links code, merge requests, pipelines, security findings and ownership in one queryable graph. The pitch runs on two tracks: agents get platform context instead of guessing from diffs, and security teams get vulnerability blast radius from a single query. Around that, GitLab is publishing remediation playbooks for third-party CVEs and positioning on regulatory themes like EU sovereignty.

Releases follow OpenJDK update trains every six to eight weeks, and security fixes now arrive in most of them. JITServer, the remote JIT compilation service, is getting attention as an attack surface.
Expect 0.64.0 aligned with the next OpenJDK update train in early 2027, likely with more CVE fixes; whether 0.61 and 0.62 ever get full notes is unclear.

The direction is clear: GitLab wants the data it already holds about the software lifecycle to be the input every agent, including outside ones, depends on. Duo Agent Platform is stretching beyond the IDE into business systems, and governance features are being framed around supervising agent activity. Security is the lead use case for selling that context.
Expect Orbit to surface inside more Duo agents and security workflows, likely with remediation steps that act on the blast-radius answers it returns. The sovereignty post hints at deployment and data-residency messaging, but the entries don't show a concrete product move there yet.
