A side-by-side editorial comparison of Displayr and InfluxDB — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
Displayr moves custom visualizations to their own domain, so videos, maps and saved settings work.
The latest change is in the plumbing: custom visualizations now load from a separate displayrusercontent.com address. That lets embedded videos play, OpenStreetMap tiles render and browser-saved settings persist, and Displayr says security is unchanged. Before this, the end of September brought Rules through Chat, where Chat applies and writes rules that change tables, plus API document duplication and an input shortcut. The summer made Chat easier to audit and added shared controls and rolling averages.
InfluxDB keeps patching its 3.11 and 3.12 lines, now with a catalog repair tool.
InfluxDB 3.12.0 made authentication and RBAC generally available in Enterprise and added distributed compaction in beta. Since then the team has shipped patch pairs for 3.12 and 3.11: lost-write and catalog-load fixes in mid-October, and on 10-29 a catalog deadlock fix, correct column names for WAL plugins, and 429 instead of 500 when a query runs out of memory. 3.12.2 also gets the offline catalog repair command.

Displayr's arc is Chat moving from explaining to editing, with the core report builder getting steady workflow fixes. The new domain removes limits that blocked richer custom visuals, which matters most to teams building embedded dashboards on top of survey data.
The six-week gap since the Rules release and this infrastructure-only follow-up make the next step unclear. The most consistent pattern is more Chat actions that change documents directly.

Most recent work is about data correctness and recovery, not new features. Two release lines get the same fixes, and an offline repair tool suggests catalog corruption has reached real users.
More paired 3.12.x and 3.11.x patches are likely before any 3.13 feature release, since every release since 3.12.0 has been a fix.
