Slurm
Slurm's 26.05 line settles into routine fixes after September's seven-CVE release.
A side-by-side editorial comparison of direnv and Fiber — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
direnv returned after 15 months with uv and pixi layouts and a kill switch.
After 2.37.1 in July 2025, direnv went quiet until October 2026. 2.38.1 added uv and pixi layouts, a require_allowed helper, a DIRENV_DISABLE switch and multi-line environment variables; 2.38.0 was tagged but never published. 2.38.2 followed four days later with zsh and fish hook fixes.
Fiber marks its v2 module deprecated in favour of v3
Fiber's v2 line has been on narrow maintenance for months: lock cleanup, an X-Real-IP backport, HTML escaping, a CVE patch. v2.52.16 formally marks the fiber/v2 module as deprecated in favour of v3 and fixes CORS wildcard origins that accepted empty subdomain labels. The v3 line, last visible in this feed at rc.3, carries native net/http and fasthttp handler support and Express-style handlers.

Releases keep tracking whatever environment tools developers adopt: Nix, Flox and opam earlier, now uv and pixi for Python. DIRENV_DISABLE and require_allowed give users more control over when .envrc files run.
Further 2.38.x patches for shell-hook regressions are likely; the long gap before 2.38 makes the timing of anything larger unclear.

The deprecation notice tells v2 users to plan their move. With v2 patches shrinking to one or two pull requests, active development sits entirely on v3.
Further v2 releases are likely to be security fixes only; the feed does not show v3's current state past rc.3.
