A side-by-side editorial comparison of DebugBear and MotherDuck — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
DebugBear is growing from performance testing into uptime, browser support and ad-impact data.
Seven monthly digests show a tool widening on several fronts. August added uptime monitoring, Server Timing in lab and RUM, and URL-based conversion triggers. September added a Browsers tab showing which Baseline web features visitors' browsers support, CrUX Ad Insights metrics, and more custom dashboard work. Earlier months brought a bottleneck finder, HAR exports, custom dashboards and an MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor.
MotherDuck rebuilds its UI so the first thing you see is an agent, not a SQL editor.
MotherDuck ships a weekly changelog. The November 3 release redesigns the UI around Agent Chat: Home opens with a prompt where the agent answers questions, loads data with Flights, saves context in Guides and builds Dives, with confirmation before destructive operations. Admins can enable web search for the agent, Agent Chat runs inside Dive presentation mode, and Enterprise orgs get one login across linked organizations. October filled out governance with row- and column-level security and Flight run grants.

DebugBear is moving from 'is my page fast' to a wider view of who visits and what slows them down: availability, browser capabilities, and now the cost of ads. Custom dashboards are the surface that ties those data sets together, and they get work almost every month.
Expect October's digest to add more RUM breakdowns or dashboard widgets built on the new browser and ad data, following the monthly pattern.

The arc runs from SQL warehouse to agent-driven data app platform: Flights went GA, Dives gained write-back, Agent Chat learned to build Dives, and now the agent is the front door. Governance work runs in parallel so the agent operates inside admin controls. AI pricing is moving too, with cheaper OpenAI-backed functions and billing for prompt_jev().
Expect Agent Chat to gain more admin controls and usage-based pricing detail, given web search and the agent both ship as admin toggles on paid plans. SQL-first features will likely keep arriving behind the agent rather than ahead of it.
