What is Dashy?

A release per merged PR, and right now nearly every one is a translation string.

Dashy is shipping a tagged release for essentially every merged pull request, producing ten versions in under three weeks. The current run is dominated by internationalization work: German and Traditional Chinese UI strings, plus a refactor that pulls hard-coded strings out of components so they can be translated at all. Dependabot accounts for the remainder.

What is dockerfiler?

dockerfiler's 1.0.0 changes what its generated Dockerfiles actually contain.

After two years of small parameter additions, ThinkR shipped a 1.0.0 that changes the tool's output for every existing user. The vendored copy of renv is gone, generated images default to multi-arch rocker/r-ver running as a non-root rstudio user, and packages come from Posit Public Package Manager binaries instead of a source CRAN mirror.

6.3

A release per merged PR, and right now nearly every one is a translation string.

◆ Current state

Dashy is shipping a tagged release for essentially every merged pull request, producing ten versions in under three weeks. The current run is dominated by internationalization work: German and Traditional Chinese UI strings, plus a refactor that pulls hard-coded strings out of components so they can be translated at all. Dependabot accounts for the remainder.

◆ Where it's heading

The i18n push looks deliberate rather than incidental — extracting hard-coded strings is groundwork that only pays off if more locale contributions follow. Feature work has moved to the background; the last substantive changes in the visible window were OIDC post-logout redirect support and item sorting, both before this stretch. Cadence is high but the per-release payload is small.

◆ Prediction

Expect further locale contributions landing as individual patch releases while the string-extraction work continues to open up translatable surface area.

0.0

dockerfiler's 1.0.0 changes what its generated Dockerfiles actually contain.

◆ Current state

After two years of small parameter additions, ThinkR shipped a 1.0.0 that changes the tool's output for every existing user. The vendored copy of renv is gone, generated images default to multi-arch rocker/r-ver running as a non-root rstudio user, and packages come from Posit Public Package Manager binaries instead of a source CRAN mirror.

◆ Where it's heading

The package is being hardened rather than extended. Every user-supplied value that reaches a Dockerfile shell context is validated at function entry, and two long-standing code-injection paths — a crafted renv.lock version string and DCF continuation lines in DESCRIPTION fields — were closed after an internal audit. The new parameters point at production image builds: github_pat via BuildKit secret mounts, strict_install turning install warnings into build failures, and a configurable renv cache path.

◆ Prediction

With the injection surface closed and the defaults flipped, the next releases are more likely to be compatibility work against renv and pak than new generators.
