What is Caddy?

Caddy 2.11's betas add ECH key rotation and a release process without its founder.

Caddy's tracked entries are the two 2.11 betas from December 2025 and January 2026. Beta 1 was the first release cut by the maintainer team's automated process without the original author, and brought time-based log rolling, argon2id basic auth and named socket activation. Beta 2 added ECH key rotation, multiple intermediates in PKI signing chains and a fix for the ZeroSSL issuer.

What is CircleCI?

CircleCI meters test intelligence while making the compute under it cheaper and more resilient.

Smarter Testing is GA, with test impact analysis, dynamic splitting, auto-rerun and analytics billed per test atom evaluated while basic running and static splitting stay free. Around it, CircleCI is cutting the cost and fragility of compute: Gen2 Arm classes in beta at lower credit rates, spot-tolerant machine runners, and now us-west-1 and us-west-2 as fallback regions for machine executor and remote Docker. The JetBrains plugin, Slack approvals and run-step teardown round out a dense two weeks.

Caddy 2.11's betas add ECH key rotation and a release process without its founder.

◆ Current state

Caddy's tracked entries are the two 2.11 betas from December 2025 and January 2026. Beta 1 was the first release cut by the maintainer team's automated process without the original author, and brought time-based log rolling, argon2id basic auth and named socket activation. Beta 2 added ECH key rotation, multiple intermediates in PKI signing chains and a fix for the ZeroSSL issuer.

◆ Where it's heading

Caddy is investing in privacy-preserving TLS through Encrypted ClientHello, and in project continuity through a team-run release pipeline. The rest of the betas are edge-case fixes, consistent with a mature server polishing details.

◆ Prediction

The beta notes point to a 2.11 stable release; no newer entries are tracked, so its timing isn't visible here.

◆ Current state

Smarter Testing is GA, with test impact analysis, dynamic splitting, auto-rerun and analytics billed per test atom evaluated while basic running and static splitting stay free. Around it, CircleCI is cutting the cost and fragility of compute: Gen2 Arm classes in beta at lower credit rates, spot-tolerant machine runners, and now us-west-1 and us-west-2 as fallback regions for machine executor and remote Docker. The JetBrains plugin, Slack approvals and run-step teardown round out a dense two weeks.

◆ Where it's heading

The pricing model is splitting in two: raw minutes get cheaper and more available, while the intelligence layer on top becomes its own meter. The infrastructure work (Arm, spot retries, more fallback regions) is what makes that split credible, because buyers will only pay for test selection if the underlying compute is not the bottleneck. Control keeps moving out of the web app into IDEs and Slack.

◆ Prediction

Expect Gen2 Arm to move toward GA and more cost controls around cross-region and spot usage; how test-atom pricing gets tuned after GA is not visible in these entries.
