GitLab
GitLab is turning its platform into the context layer agents and security teams query, not just a code host.
A side-by-side editorial comparison of Bitbucket and RSS-Bridge — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
Bitbucket is rebuilding Pipelines as a place where agents run, not just where builds run.
Agentic Pipelines is now generally available on all paid Cloud plans, on Atlassian's cloud runners or self-hosted Linux Docker runners. Around it, Bitbucket shipped task-specific agents for test optimization and cleanup, a connection to the redesigned Atlassian MCP for Claude and Codex agents, and public Merge Queue APIs. A visual refresh of the Pipelines UI rounds out a busy month.
RSS-Bridge resurfaces after a year with a date tag and a Bluesky fix, but no release notes.
RSS-Bridge generates feeds for sites that dropped theirs, and its releases are batches of community fixes to individual site bridges plus a few new ones. The last documented release was 2025-08-05. A new 2026-09-30 tag has appeared whose only visible change is a Bluesky bridge null-handling fix, with no published notes alongside it.

Bitbucket is treating CI as the execution layer for scheduled and event-driven agents, with test maintenance as the first proving ground. Support for outside agents through MCP suggests Atlassian is choosing to host whichever agent teams prefer rather than lock them to Rovo. Merge Queues and on-demand pipelines point the same way: more of the merge path becomes programmable.
Atlassian says more runner types are coming, so expect Windows or macOS runner support for agents next, along with more packaged agents beyond testing.

The core is stable PHP and the work lives in the roughly 400 site-specific scrapers, which break whenever a target site changes markup or adds bot protection. Releases have slowed from every few months to once a year, so maintenance is continuing on master faster than it is being packaged.
Unclear from the feed whether 2026-09-30 will get a written release; if it does, expect the usual mix of bridge repairs and bot-protection workarounds.
