GitLab
GitLab is turning its platform into the context layer agents and security teams query, not just a code host.
A side-by-side editorial comparison of Bitbucket and OctoPrint — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
Bitbucket is rebuilding Pipelines as a place where agents run, not just where builds run.
Agentic Pipelines is now generally available on all paid Cloud plans, on Atlassian's cloud runners or self-hosted Linux Docker runners. Around it, Bitbucket shipped task-specific agents for test optimization and cleanup, a connection to the redesigned Atlassian MCP for Claude and Codex agents, and public Merge Queue APIs. A visual refresh of the Pipelines UI rounds out a busy month.
OctoPrint 2.0 is on its seventh release candidate, still with no final date.
OctoPrint 2.0 makes serial one connector among several, including Moonraker and Bambu, and removes deprecated plugin APIs. Release candidates have arrived every few weeks since April: rc5 in August fixed config and schema regressions, and rc6 and rc7 in October carried only the standard warning that a candidate may need a manual downgrade.

Bitbucket is treating CI as the execution layer for scheduled and event-driven agents, with test maintenance as the first proving ground. Support for outside agents through MCP suggests Atlassian is choosing to host whichever agent teams prefer rather than lock them to Rovo. Merge Queues and on-demand pipelines point the same way: more of the merge path becomes programmable.
Atlassian says more runner types are coming, so expect Windows or macOS runner support for agents next, along with more packaged agents beyond testing.

The 2.0 line is in a long stabilisation, with each candidate fixing regressions and asking testers to cover the new connectors. The thin notes on rc6 and rc7 suggest the remaining changes are small.
A 2.0.0 final is likely within a few candidates; the exact date is unclear from the entries.
