GitLab
GitLab is turning its platform into the context layer agents and security teams query, not just a code host.
A side-by-side editorial comparison of Bitbucket and KubeVirt — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
Bitbucket is rebuilding Pipelines as a place where agents run, not just where builds run.
Agentic Pipelines is now generally available on all paid Cloud plans, on Atlassian's cloud runners or self-hosted Linux Docker runners. Around it, Bitbucket shipped task-specific agents for test optimization and cleanup, a connection to the redesigned Atlassian MCP for Claude and Codex agents, and public Merge Queue APIs. A visual refresh of the Pipelines UI rounds out a busy month.
KubeVirt 1.10 reaches beta with 1,345 changes from 94 contributors.
KubeVirt runs a long pre-release cycle per minor version. The 1.9 line went from alpha in May through three release candidates in July, and 1.10 opened with an alpha in early September, then reached beta.0 on October 13 with 1,345 changes from 94 contributors since 1.9.1. The 1.9.0 final and 1.9.1 do not appear in the feed, so the release notes visible here are mostly pre-release headers with change and contributor counts.

Bitbucket is treating CI as the execution layer for scheduled and event-driven agents, with test maintenance as the first proving ground. Support for outside agents through MCP suggests Atlassian is choosing to host whichever agent teams prefer rather than lock them to Rovo. Merge Queues and on-demand pipelines point the same way: more of the merge path becomes programmable.
Atlassian says more runner types are coming, so expect Windows or macOS runner support for agents next, along with more packaged agents beyond testing.

Each cycle draws 70 to 110 contributors and follows the same alpha, beta, release-candidate path over about three months. The 1.10 beta's notable changes begin with Istio sidecar handling, but the feed exposes little of the feature list.
Following the 1.9 pattern, 1.10 release candidates should be the next entries; the date of 1.10.0 final is unclear from the feed.
