What is Bigcapital?

Bigcapital is rewriting its webapp in TypeScript while closing tenancy and race-condition bugs.

Bigcapital's recent releases are almost entirely engineering hygiene rather than accounting features. The webapp is moving to TanStack Query hooks and TypeScript page by page, drawers and dialogs are being co-located with the pages that own them, and a generated TypeScript SDK now sits between the app and the NestJS server. The feature work that does surface — bulk account activation, customer and vendor form UX — arrives as a byproduct of pages being rewritten anyway.

What is SolidInvoice?

SolidInvoice finally shipped the 3.0 it spent a year staging in alphas and betas.

After more than twelve months of alpha and beta releases, SolidInvoice 3.0 landed in June with the accumulated work of that cycle: email verification, Google OAuth, two-factor authentication, real user profiles, flat-rate tax support and a Meilisearch-backed search layer. Underneath it, the project moved onto a shared platform config and pulled trial and SaaS logic into an external bundle. The 2.3 line ran in parallel the whole time, absorbing security backports.

5.0

Bigcapital is rewriting its webapp in TypeScript while closing tenancy and race-condition bugs.

◆ Current state

Bigcapital's recent releases are almost entirely engineering hygiene rather than accounting features. The webapp is moving to TanStack Query hooks and TypeScript page by page, drawers and dialogs are being co-located with the pages that own them, and a generated TypeScript SDK now sits between the app and the NestJS server. The feature work that does surface — bulk account activation, customer and vendor form UX — arrives as a byproduct of pages being rewritten anyway.

◆ Where it's heading

This is a codebase being prepared to move faster later: an OpenAPI-generated SDK, typed forms, lint enforcement and error-reporting middleware are the scaffolding an open-source accounting app needs before it can absorb outside contributions at volume. The security fixes running in parallel — cross-tenant attachment access, a TOCTOU race in financial commands — suggest multi-tenant hardening is being done in the same sweep. Little of this is visible to an accountant using the product; the changelog records a platform being rebuilt underneath a stable interface.

◆ Prediction

With the SDK and TypeScript migration largely in place, the next releases are likely to spend that groundwork on user-facing accounting features rather than further refactoring — though the run of tenancy patches suggests hardening is not finished.

S0.0

SolidInvoice finally shipped the 3.0 it spent a year staging in alphas and betas.

◆ Current state

After more than twelve months of alpha and beta releases, SolidInvoice 3.0 landed in June with the accumulated work of that cycle: email verification, Google OAuth, two-factor authentication, real user profiles, flat-rate tax support and a Meilisearch-backed search layer. Underneath it, the project moved onto a shared platform config and pulled trial and SaaS logic into an external bundle. The 2.3 line ran in parallel the whole time, absorbing security backports.

◆ Where it's heading

Two threads run through this changelog. The visible one is identity and account management catching up to what users expect from a billing app — signup verification, OAuth, 2FA, self-serve company deletion. The less visible one is the codebase being restructured around reusable solidworx platform components with Sentry and Prometheus instrumentation, which is the shape of a project preparing to run itself as a hosted service rather than only as a download.

◆ Prediction

With 3.0 out and 3.0.1 already repairing the upgrade migration path, the near-term work is likely more 3.0.x stabilization for people coming off 2.3 rather than new features.
