The 12.x and 13.x lines now ship within minutes of each other, and the split is consistent: 12.x receives a handful of backported fixes — deprecation logging, schedule:list timezone conversion, Factory::insert() with a count of zero — while 13.x carries every new API. Recent 13.x additions cluster around queues and Eloquent: a UniqueJobSkipped event, after-commit dispatch respected when bulk pushing to DatabaseQueue, modelKeys() on the query builder, a foreignUlidFor schema helper, and an array_keys validation rule.

The autopilot work is not a single feature but a rebuild of how the firmware handles position: the release notes show position control unified on a velocity primitive and the existing GPS rescue reimplemented as a flight-plan mission rather than a special case. That direction pulls hardware integration along with it — DroneCAN node allocation, GNSS Fix2, ESC telemetry and MAVLink ground-station handshaking are all things a manually flown craft does not need. The SITL harness gained fidelity and per-run session ids in the same releases, which is what you build when autonomous behaviour has to be regression-tested rather than test-flown.
With GPS rescue now running through the mission engine, the next releases on this line should concentrate on hardening that path — the release candidates already added an rx-loss policy, sanity checks and an arming gate for flight plans, and safety scaffolding of that kind usually keeps accumulating after the feature ships.

Queue correctness is the quiet theme running through several releases — delays and after-commit semantics honored in bulk pushes, UUIDs exposed on QueueFake, an event for jobs skipped as duplicates. Alongside it, the framework is picking up PHP 8.4 native functions and Rector rules internally, which is maintenance work with a compounding payoff. Cloud-specific plumbing keeps appearing in the 12.x notes: agent request isolation from the global HTTP client, socket timeouts on the cloud log driver.
Expect 12.x to stay a fixes-only line and 13.x to keep concentrating on queue and testing ergonomics, since that is where the last four minors have put nearly all their new API.
