Sharded tables are steadily gaining the introspection and SQL surface that plain tables already have, with settings retrieval the latest gap closed. KNN work continues on the operational side rather than the algorithmic one — making optimize cutoff behave consistently whether it is set globally or per index. The Buddy component is on its own release train, pulled in via version bumps that each carry a capability, most recently Unix socket support. A UTF-8 table and field name feature was merged by mistake and reverted, so that capability is still pending rather than shipped.
