Glances
After a year of CVE fixes, Glances 4.5.7 turns to making its alerts tell the truth.
A side-by-side editorial comparison of Apache TsFile and MotherDuck — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
TsFile 2.5 adds Go to its Java, C++ and Python implementations.
Apache TsFile is the columnar time-series file format underneath IoTDB. The 2.x line has concentrated on the native and Python ends: Arrow-compatible results into Python DataFrames in 2.3.0, CSV, Parquet and Arrow conversion scripts in 2.3.1, SIMD and parallel reads in 2.4.0, and in October 2.5.0 with table-model read and write APIs for Go plus persistent dataset indexes. The old 1.1 line still gets occasional backport releases, most recently 1.1.4 in September.
MotherDuck turns Dives from read-only dashboards into apps that write back through Flights.
MotherDuck ships a weekly changelog, and October's entries fill out two layers. Governance: row-level security, column-level security and masking on Shares, table-level security for managed DuckLake, and run grants that let teammates trigger a Flight without seeing its code or credentials. Interaction: Dives gained write-back buttons and forms that run Flights, Agent Chat can create and edit Dives, and AI functions got 50 to 60% cheaper on OpenAI models while prompt_jev() started billing.

TsFile is being shaped into an interchange format that non-JVM tools can read and write directly, with each release widening language coverage or speeding up the native path. The 1.1 backports show IoTDB users on older versions are still being supported.
Expect a 2.5.x patch release fixing the new Go and index features, following the pattern of 2.3.1 after 2.3.0.

The pieces are converging. Flights (the serverless job layer) now power actions inside Dives, Agent Chat builds the Dives, and fine-grained sharing controls decide who sees which rows. MotherDuck is moving from a cloud DuckDB warehouse toward a place where data apps are built and governed, with SQL-native AI functions as the hook.
Expect write-back and run grants to spread to more surfaces, such as agents running Flights directly, and further prompt_jev() region and modality expansion after images and Europe.
