Shopify adds multi-entity Payments, PrestaShop ships Repository Intelligence for AI coding assistants, and Paddle expands its merchant-of-record footprint — this week in ecommerce SaaS.

Shopify closed a long-standing merchant gap: Shopify Payments now supports multiple legal entities within the same country inside a single store, configured through Shopify Markets. Each LLC keeps its own payouts and tax ID, so franchise structures and country-internal corporate splits no longer need duplicate stores. Shopify Tax also extended into Canada this cycle, alongside cumulative Analytics, SMS automations in Messaging, and Flow test-event generation.

PrestaShop published Repository Intelligence — a vendor-neutral, format-portable context layer that makes the codebase's conventions (CQRS handlers, hook ordering, multistore quirks) machine-readable for Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and ChatGPT. Plain Markdown, no proprietary configs, with a live pilot already running on ps_apiresources. PrestaShop also patched the 9.1 branch twice during the week.

Paddle widened its merchant-of-record coverage with Ivory Coast VAT, admin-initiated 2FA resets, and paddle.net absorbing license-key access for buyers. ShipBob shipped its Spring '26 platform release, positioned as the company's largest seasonal update. LitCommerce stepped in as the recommended InkFrog alternative for eBay sellers following InkFrog's shutdown announcement.
